The Gilded Consecrated
The Gilded Consecrated are the sanctified weight of the Auric Collectors’ advance, warriors whose bodies and armour have been formally dedicated to Mammon through rites of valuation and binding. Chosen from veterans who survived long enough to become assets rather than expenses, they are elevated through anointment not of oil, but of molten gold, blood, and sworn contract. Their armour is massive, layered with gilded plates, gem-set sigils, and reinforced joints, turning them into walking vaults that advance with measured inevitability.
Each of the Gilded Consecrated bears the marks of dedication openly. Horned helms and heavy crests frame masks of beaten gold, sculpted into severe, impassive visages that deny both mercy and excess. Coin-chains hang across cuirass and greaves, not as trophies, but as visible declarations of value already secured. Their cloaks, once deep purple, are stiffened by soot and age, trailing behind them like ledgers rendered in fabric. The heavy polearms they wield are shaped to crush, hook, and dismantle formations without reducing valuable targets to ruin.
On the battlefield, the Gilded Consecrated function as breach and anchor alike. They advance into fire that would annihilate lighter troops, absorbing punishment calmly recorded as acceptable depreciation. Their role is to force entry into fortified positions, hold contested ground, and prevent enemies from destroying assets through reckless resistance. Where they stand, momentum slows, lines deform, and withdrawal becomes an increasingly costly option.
Within the doctrine of the Auric Collectors, the anointed are proof that wealth must be defended as fiercely as it is acquired. They do not rush, they do not pursue. They endure. Their presence transforms battlefields into secured holdings, places where value is preserved under iron and gold until collection can be completed. To face them is to understand that some claims are too heavily invested to fail.
The Gilded Consecrated are not merely soldiers but embodiments of the Collectors’ creed, living testaments to the principle that wealth, once sanctified, must be guarded with unyielding devotion. Their very presence is a deterrent, for to strike against them is to strike against the weight of Mammon’s covenant. Even their silence carries authority: they do not chant, they do not roar, but advance in quiet procession, the clinking of coin-chains and the grinding of gilded joints echoing like the tolling of a treasury bell.
Behind their advance, lesser troops find shelter, rallying to the immovable bastions that the Consecrated provide. In siegecraft, they are the fulcrum upon which assaults pivot, their polearms prying open gates and tearing down barricades with deliberate precision. To allies, they are reassurance; to enemies, inevitability. Each step they take is measured, each blow accounted, each victory recorded as profit. In them, war itself becomes ledger and balance sheet, sanctified under gold.
