Only God and the sacred cartridges can soothe their pain now. They look upon crates of ammunition as if holding a newborn they must surrender — not to earth, but to Heaven’s will. Each round they carry is not mere metal, but a prayer, a fragment of devotion entrusted to the hands of soldiers who must endure.

Clad in patched robes and heavy belts, they move through the trenches with quiet certainty. Their steps are slow but unwavering, their faces hidden beneath veils that conceal both sorrow and resolve. To the weary soldiers, their presence is unsettling yet strangely comforting. For when the Supply Nuns arrive, it means that the line will not break, that the rifles will not fall silent, that hope — however fragile — will be given one more chance to breathe.

Some carry motanka dolls strapped to their gear, woven figures bound with thread and memory. In the dolls’ small hands, one can sometimes glimpse a single cartridge, gleaming faintly against the soot and mud. Many dismiss it as superstition, a trick of the eye born from exhaustion. Yet stories linger. When despair swallowed whole battalions, when no rounds remained and hope had died, a small motanka would appear from nowhere — and offer one last bullet. Soldiers whisper that such bullets never miss, that they strike with the weight of destiny itself.
