Chained Supplicants
They are called The Chained Supplicants because petition is all that remains to them. Once they held office, vows, or minor authority within the Church, until failure, doubt, or unconfessed sin delivered them into iron. Among the Pilgrims of the Blighted Devotion, they are not concealed or spared. They are brought forward, made visible, and bound so that no distance remains between judgment and obedience.
Like all within the pilgrimage, their bodies are marked by the sacred blight, but their bearing is sharpened by desperation. Chains bite into leper-softened flesh, collars grind against ruined necks, and iron links are drawn tight with deliberate intent. These bonds are not meant to restrain violence. They exist to deny hesitation. Choice is stripped away, leaving only motion and the fragile belief that motion itself may yet be accounted for.
In war, The Chained Supplicants are driven toward the most punishing ground. They surge forward in uneven waves, dragged by chain-lines and pressed onward by the weight of those behind them. Fear is present, but it cannot settle. Every step is taken under the conviction that suffering, if offered without reservation, may still answer for what prayer failed to erase.
Among the Pilgrims of the Blighted Devotion, their role requires no explanation. They are not martyrs, nor are they redeemed. They are proof that even stained souls may still serve, and that absolution, if it ever comes, is not granted through hope of survival, but through the complete expenditure of the self.
